<br />
Sketch Week is where I (Allison) take one sketch and show how to get multiple uses out of it. Basically, it's Sketch Support in a smaller format. Each month, during the week that SG releases a new round of downloadable sketches I take the free sketch for that month and use it as my starting point. I post three layouts throughout the week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Plus, we have some past Sketch Support creative team members that are going to be joining in on the fun and creating layouts and posting them on their blogs too.<br />
<br />
If you are missing Sketch Support come on over to my blog: <a href="http://www.allisonrdavis.blogspot.com/">www.allisonrdavis.blogspot.com</a> and check out Sketch Week! (There are usually giveaways for downloadable classes and bundles too!)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1919305852703824505.post-13112762594357964732012-08-28T09:10:00.002-05:002012-08-28T09:10:44.579-05:00Sketch Support, the classThis month kicked off our first round of downloadables at <a href="http://www.scrapbookgeneration.com/">www.scrapbookgeneration.com</a>.

Sketch Support: My popular online class that I taught at My Creative
Classroom is being offered in PDF form through Scrapbook Generation.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r6xu7F6iFMY/UDzOS5hgAWI/AAAAAAAACuM/VDBk8qxpczg/s1600/descriptionphoto.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r6xu7F6iFMY/UDzOS5hgAWI/AAAAAAAACuM/VDBk8qxpczg/s640/descriptionphoto.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The
non-interactive class includes over 80 pages of instructional materials
and sample layouts. Originally priced at $30 and now offered for half
the price ($15), the class is exactly the same minus the online
interaction with me. (However, if you have any questions about anything,
don't hesitate to ask either here on my blog or by emailing me at
allison@scrapbookgeneration.com.)<br />
<br />
<br />
You can read more about Sketch Support, the class by clicking <b><a href="http://www.allisonrdavis.blogspot.com/2011/08/sketch-support-online-class.html">here</a></b> and <b><a href="http://www.allisonrdavis.blogspot.com/2010/08/sketch-support-session-2.html">here</a></b> and can purchase the class <b><a href="http://store.scrapbookgeneration.com/downloadables/august-sketch-support-class-pdfs">here</a></b>.<br />

I'm really excited about all the new ways we are able to offer
sketches, layout samples and classes! I'm currently working on the class
for September and sometime in the future I hope to have a Sketch
Support 2. Unknownnoreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1919305852703824505.post-44087478490528487142012-05-27T10:54:00.000-05:002012-05-27T10:56:22.636-05:00Taking a Break<span style="color: white;">•••••••••••••••••• </span><br />
Sketch Support will be taking a break for an unknown amount of time. There will not be any new sketches or layouts posted during this break.<br />
<br />
We knew when starting up Sketch Support that there was going to be a lot of work involved. We never expected it to be easy and knew that it was going to take time and effort. We are taking the time right now to decide if that time and effort we put into this site is worth it. It was a difficult decision to make but it was time to evaluate things and see where we stand.<br />
<br />
I wish I could give you a specific date of when things might start up again but at this time I do not know.<br />
<br />
Thank you for understanding. <br />

<br />
It is time again for our <a href="http://www.nikkisdoghouse.blogspot.com/">Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker</a> Product Challenge! <br />
<br />
In case you missed the product challenge details, Nikki Sivils provided a
collection kit to each member of our Creative Team. Each had the choice
between the four newest collections - Noah, Audrey, Exit Here, and
Messages. Together with the May sketches we will show you how using the
same products and even the same sketches can produce so many different
results.<br />
<br />
They are also featuring our sketches this month on the <a href="http://www.nikkisdoghouse.blogspot.com/">Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker blog!</a> You'll definitely want to go check out how their talented team used the sketches from our two newest books! <br />
<br />
Since it is One-page Week, all of the projects posted today for the product challenge are based on the May one-page sketch. <i></i><br />

room, I eliminated the lower banner.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/goofyGrannyTimedetails1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/goofyGrannyTimedetails1.jpg" /></a></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>“Fall Color” </b><i>by Sue Althouse</i> </span><br />

<i>Alphabets:</i> American Crafts Thickers, October Afternoon Mini Market Stickers; <i>Ribbon/Twine: </i>We Are Memory Keepers floss; <i>Other:</i> miscellaneous buttons<br />
<br />
One of the reasons I chose the Messages collection was the rich colors that remind me of my favorite season, autumn. I knew I would be doing some kind of fall project and here it is!<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1</b> - Used one 6x4 photo and added layered matting. <br />
<br />

<br />
<b>Variation #5</b> - Omitted the butterfly embellishments.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #6</b> - Changed the banner in the upper right corner to a smaller tab.<br />
<br />
<div style="color: #999999; text-align: center;">
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •</div>

<br />
<b>Variation #1:</b> I added some additional patterned paper behind the photos.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2:</b> I added some embellishments and stamps along the bottom of the
layout.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/IMG_6548-SS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/IMG_6548-SS.jpg" /></a></div>

<br />
<b>Variation #2</b> - I added border strips at the top and bottom of the page,

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>"In Our Book, U are No. 1 DAD Extraordinaire"</b> <i>by Virginia Nebel </i></span><br />
<b>Supply list</b> - <i>Patterned paper:</i> Nikki Sivils; <i>Embellishments:</i> The Twinery<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1</b> - Instead of a 12 x 12 page I created a square card. I used
one large element in the middle to mimic a book cover. I used different
alphas to create the long message sentiment.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2</b> - Substituted button die-cuts and twine for the banners along
the bottom.<br />
<br />
<div style="color: #999999; text-align: center;">

<b> Noah Collection</b></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/pocketsize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/pocketsize.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>“My Pocket Size Car”</b> <i>by Andrea Friebus</i> </span><br />
<b>Supply list</b>
– <i>Patterned paper, stickers, die cuts:</i> Nikki
Sivils (Noah collection); <i>ink: </i>Clearsnap;
<i>brads: </i>Making Memories<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1 </b>-
My photos are different sizes than the ones in the sketch—mine are 5.5”x4” and
3.5”x2.5”. I’m not a fan of tilting my photos so I kept them straight and did
not mat them.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2</b> -
I added two more background patterned papers for color, and I liked how they
helped create the look of a frame for the layout.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #3</b> -
The red title stickers didn’t show up well against the red background so I
included a circle of paper in a contrasting color to place the title on.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #4</b> -
Instead of banner pieces along the bottom, I used the pockets cut from the
patterned paper and extended them across the page.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #5</b> -
Rather than using butterflies as embellishments, I used stars and added some
brads.
<br />
<br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>"Loads of Fun"</b> <i>by Janette Kincaid</i> </span><br />
<b>Supplies</b> - <i>Patterned paper, cut outs, die cut, alphas:</i> Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker; <i>Floss: </i>DMC; <i>Adhesive:</i> Glue Arts, Helmar; <i>Unknown:</i> foamcore, sanding block<br />
<br />
I don’t have little boys of my own, so when I’m looking to create ‘boy’ pages I look through photos I’ve got of my nephews. These ones of Cameron playing trucks at the park were perfect for the Noah line from Nikki Sivils.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1</b> - I replaced the banner trim in the sketch with the pocket banner from the cut out sheet in the collection. I raised this up on foam core to add depth.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2</b> – I removed the journal area and replaced it with a truck and car cut from the same sheet as above.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/LoadsofFundetail471x550.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/LoadsofFundetail471x550.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />

<b>Variation #2</b> - I added a large die cut flower, in place of the half banner

<br />
<b>Variation #3</b> - My title is located further to the top of the page, since my

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>"Growing Taller Than Grandma."</b> <i>by Megan Bickers</i> </span><br />
<b>Supplies Used</b> - <i>Cardstock:</i> Georgia Pacific (White), Bazzill (Cream), Maple
Press (Black); <i>Patterned Paper:</i> Basic Grey (Skate Shoppe: Indy Grab), My
Mind's Eye (Wild Asparagus Blue/Green Polka Dot; Front Porch); <i>Inks:
</i>Tsukineko (Memento: Tuxedo Black), Ranger (Distress Inkpad: Shabby Shutters,
Walnut Stain, Chipped Sapphire); <i>Stamps:</i> Maya Road (Measure Twice
Singleton), The Girls Paperie (Paper Girl), Jenni Bowlin (Lace Border),

<i>Tools:</i> Ranger (Foam Blending Tool); <i>Markers: </i>EK Success (Zig Writer: Black),

Heart (Ribbon: Heavenly Blue), October Afternoon (Journaling Card: Detours)<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1:</b> I used larger photos by adding two 4x6" photos plus cream and
black mats. This helped my photos stand out more on the page.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2:</b> I matted my background pattern paper on a black cardstock and
extended my pattern paper border to the edges along the bottom of the
photos.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #3:</b> Instead of making the banner and pendant, I used a ribbon bow
and stamped some lace and a ruler edge along the top of my layout.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #4:</b> I added my journaling on a journaling card and moved it to the
bottom left of my layout. The title was stamped and I colored the main
letters with Copic markers to match.<br />

<br />
<b>Variation 1:</b> My title is in a different location in order to create movement across
the page.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation 2:</b> Instead of the banners below the horizontal strip, I used a
lace stamp that had the same appearance of the banners.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation 3:</b> I never like
writing directly on my backgrounds, it never works for me. I used a journal spot
instead.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation 4:</b> Rather than semi-circles for the top corner banner, I used a
variety of shapes, sizes and "density" (chipboard and layered pieces)<br />
<br />

<br />
<b>Variation #1</b> - I kept the sketch almost exactly as it was, just adding some zigzag
circles in addition to the round on the banner and adding a photo below. I also
added more "stuff" around the title.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<b>Variation #1</b> - Rotated the orientation of the photos.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2</b> - Added a third paper strip.<br />

<b>"Life is Good in the Summer"</b> <i>by Penny Grimsley</i> </span><br />
<b>Supplies</b> - <i>Cardstock:</i> Bazzill; <i>Patterned paper:</i> Echo Park; <i>Embellishments:</i> Echo
Park; <i>Punch:</i> Martha Stewart, Jenni Bowlin; <i>Twine:</i> Doodlebug<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1</b> - I changed the photo size to 3 x 3 and matted them on white, like they
are Polaroids.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2</b> - I added a cardstock mat under the background paper
after trimming it to 11x11.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #3</b> - I did simple journaling with a tab punch
and sticker strips on my photos.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #4</b> - I placed the title where the
journaling cluster was shown.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #5</b> - I widened and lengthened the cardstock
strip and used a border punch to help ground all the bright colors.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #6</b> - I
tied twine around the bottoms of the "Polaroids".<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #7</b> - I
eliminated the little butterflies, as I felt they would be "too much" with
the twine.<br />

letter stickers just under my journaling.<br />

It is time again for our <a href="http://www.nikkisdoghouse.blogspot.com/">Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker</a> Product Challenge! <br />
<br />
<br />
They are also featuring our sketches this month on the <a href="http://www.nikkisdoghouse.blogspot.com/">Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker blog!</a> You'll definitely want to go check out how their talented team used the sketches from our two newest books! <br />
<br />
Since it is Add-on Week, all of the projects posted today for the product challenge are based on the May add-on sketch. <br />

<br />
<b>Variation 1: </b>Not much on the first one. I used ribbon, a label sticker and
"emphemera" for the ribbons. I cut part of the wrist band that my daughter and I
were wearing and used that. Please excuse the fuzziness in the close up pic, it
contains personal info I didn't want shared but wanted you to see the detail.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<b>Variation 2:</b> For the smaller one, my background circle is a sticker. I used the EK
Success Jenni Bowlin punch to make it quick and easy for the pink pieces.<br />

<b>Variation #1</b> - Used a pinking border instead of a scallop.<br />

It is time again for our <a href="http://www.nikkisdoghouse.blogspot.com/">Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker</a> Product Challenge! <br />
<br />
<br />
They are also featuring our sketches this month on the <a href="http://www.nikkisdoghouse.blogspot.com/">Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker blog!</a> You'll definitely want to go check out how their talented team used the sketches from our two newest books! <br />
<br />
Since it is Two-page Week, all of the projects posted today for the product challenge are based on the May two-page sketch. <br />
<br />

<i>Letter Stickers:</i> American craft, Doodlebug; <i>Other:</i> Felt cut with Die cutter
and gold stars <br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1:</b> I used 3- 4x6 and 1-3x3 photo instead of the smaller photos.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2:</b> I replaced the star border with flags.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #3:</b> I added a narrow strip of red stitched paper above the flags.<br />
<br />
<div style="color: #999999; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>“My Mac Family”</b> <i>by Sue Althouse</i> </span><br />
<b>Supplies</b> -
All my supplies are from the Nikki Sivils Messages collection, except the following:
<i>Alphabets:</i> American Crafts, Bella Blvd.; <i>Tools:</i> Fiskars Star Punch, We Are Memory Keepers Sew Easy; <i>Ribbon/Twine:</i> We Are Memory Keepers floss; Other: buttons<br />
<br />
I used the left-hand side of the sketch to create this layout about what I fondly refer to as "my Mac family", which includes an iMac, iPad, iPhone and iPod. And yes, I use every one of them regularly!<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1</b> - Used the left-hand side of the sketch to create a one-page layout.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2</b> - Used slightly smaller photos.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #3 </b>- Used several patterned papers for the background layer.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #4</b> - Added additional embellishments above and below the sketch.<br />
<br />
<div style="color: #999999; text-align: center;">
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •</div>

<b>Audrey Collection</b></div>
<br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/grinandbearit-Copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/grinandbearit-Copy.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>"Grin and Bear It"</b> <i>by Ashley Horton</i> </span><br />
<b>Supply list </b>- <i>Patterned Paper & Stickers:</i> Nikki Sivils; <i>Twine:</i> My Mind's
Eye; <i>Brads:</i> Bazzill; <i>Buttons:</i> Michael's; <i>Thickers:</i> American Crafts<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1</b> - I changed the two smaller 2x2 photos at the bottom, to one
4x3 photo.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2</b> - I framed in the title in the journaling area, but didn't add
a different piece of patterned paper over the background paper.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/grinandbearit1-Copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/grinandbearit1-Copy.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>Variation #3</b> - I added a few fussy cut words from the Nikki Sivils
patterned paper, beside the last photo on the right-hand page.<br />
<br />
<div style="color: #999999; text-align: center;">
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Exit Here Collection</b></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/IMG_8507.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/IMG_8507.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>"Snapshot of Nature"</b> <i>by Virginia Nebel </i></span><br />
<b>Supply list</b> - <i>Cardstock:</i> Bazzill; <i>Patterned paper:</i> Nikki Sivils; <i>Diecutting:</i>
Silhouette, Lifestyles<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1</b> - I opted to use only the right side of the sketch to create a
12 x 12 page.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2</b> - I substituted the 2 x 2 photos for round journaling spots.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/IMG_8502.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/IMG_8502.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>Variation #3</b> - Instead of the stars along the bottom I created a sub-title
with banners.<br />
<br />
<div style="color: #999999; text-align: center;">
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/At-The-Alley.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/At-The-Alley.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>"The Alley"</b> <i>by Suzanna Lee </i></span><br />
<b>Supply List</b> - <i>Cardstock:</i> Bazzill Basics; <i>Patterned
paper, Die Cut Shapes, Stickers: </i>Nikki Sivils; <i>Buttons:</i> Blumenthal, American Crafts;
<i>Twine:</i> We R Memory Keepers, The Twinery; <i>Letter Stickers:</i> American Crafts; <i>Misc:</i>
Stickles<br />
<br />
<b>Variation 1:</b> Pictures: Instead of the two 6x4 pictures I used a 5x7. I added a
picture to the left of that. Instead of the one of the 3x4 pictures, I used two
3x3's. This was all in the name of getting individual shots of each of the kids
present and a group shot.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation 2:</b> I liked the look of a piece of twine run along the top of the stripey
strip. It made me think of the bumpers that the kids still need to bowl with.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation 3:</b> Instead of stars, I used buttons. The buttons looked like bowling balls
rolling down the lanes to me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/At-The-Alley-Close.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/At-The-Alley-Close.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>Variation 4:</b> Because of the extra picture, I had to move the title and journaling.<br />
<br />
<div style="color: #999999; text-align: center;">
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b> Noah Collection</b></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/img_3804small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/img_3804small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>"Some Good Old-Fashioned Relaxing"</b> <i>by Noey Hunt </i></span><br />
<b>Products used</b> - <i>Patterned papers:</i> Nikki Sivils; <i>Accents:</i> Nikki
Sivils; <i>Letters:</i> American Crafts (white), Nikki Sivils; <i>Stamps:</i> Close
to My Heart; <i>Tools:</i> Cricut CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge (stars)<br />
<br />
<b>Variation 1:</b> I combined two smaller photos into a 4x6 photo on the right
page.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation 2:</b> I replaced the 2x2 photos with accent blocks and patterned
paper because I was all out of photos for this event. I also moved them to
all be below the photos.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/img_3798small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/img_3798small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>Variation 3:</b> I moved the journaling up above the photos on the right page
because my patterned paper on the left page was too busy to write on
directly. And because I had a space to fill after moving the accent photos.<br />
<br />
<div style="color: #999999; text-align: center;">
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •</div>

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>"Adorable is My Middle Name"</b> <i>by Jill Sarginson</i> </span><br />
<b>Supplies Used</b> - <i>Patterned Paper:</i> Nikki
Sivils (Noah paper collection); <i>Alpha: </i>Nikki Sivils (Noah collection);
<i>Ink:</i> Vibrance; <i>Cardstock:</i> Bazzill Basics; <i>Tools:</i> Creative
Memories star punch<br />
<br />
<b>Variations: </b><br />
<br />
• I used one larger photo vs. two 4x6 photos.<br />
<br />
• My three smaller photos are 2.5x2.5.<br />
<br />
• I added
a circle layer under the title to help bring in some of the other patterned paper.<br />
<br />
<div style="color: #999999; text-align: center;">
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/DSC_2549.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/DSC_2549.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>"Bashful Jackson"</b> <i>by Allison Davis</i></span><br />
<b>Supplies</b> - <i>Cardstock:</i> Bazzill; <i>Patterned paper, die cuts, alphabet stickers:</i> Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker<br />
<br />
I followed the sketch almost exactly with just three small variations. <br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1</b> - Instead of stars along the bottom, I used banner pieces.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/DSC_2551.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/DSC_2551.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>Variation #2</b> - I added a large star embellishment about my title in place of the two smaller stars on the sketch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/DSC_2550.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/DSC_2550.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>Variation #3</b> - Since I had used one large embellishment in place of two smaller ones, I decided to add another small star and word piece to my layout.<br />

<b>Supply List</b> -<i>Patterned Paper:</i> Crate Paper (Story Teller Tomorrow and

<br />
<b>Variation #1:</b> I used the right side of the two page sketch to make my one
page layout.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2:</b> I moved the star border to the very bottom of the page. I then
added some butterflies in with the stars and made it a curve instead of a
straight border.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/IMG_6525-SS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/IMG_6525-SS.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>Variation #3:</b> I used three photos for my layout.<br />

<b>Variations:</b><br />
<br />
• I used one large photo on the left hand side vs. two 4x6 photos.<br />
<br />
• I did not use the

<br />
• I filled up the bottom area
of the layout with journaling/title.<br />

<br />
<b>Variation #1:</b> I varied the size of my photos a bit from what was pictured in
the sketch. I turned my two 4x6” photos vertically on the left hand page,
and used several larger 4x6” photos on the right hand page. I also printed
my smaller photos as small wallets (2 x 3 ½”).<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2:</b> I increased the width of my main pattern paper to accommodate
my photo sizes. I also added a stripe at the top and bottom for a border.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #3:</b> I added rows of stamped cameras for accent in place of the
stars shown on the sketch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/tn_20120413_9899_edited-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/tn_20120413_9899_edited-1.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
The cameras were embellished with Glossy Accents.
The photo slides were die cut from my Silhouette and frame several smaller
photos. I added brads to the slides for dimension.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/tn_20120413_9888_edited-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/tn_20120413_9888_edited-1.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>Variation #4:</b> I added my journaling on small strips of the yellow pattern
paper. The title was moved to the bottom of the layout and was created with
die cut words and fonts cut from my Silhouette Cameo.<br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>“Maple Grove Days Parade”</b> <i>by Jennifer Larson</i> </span><br />
<b>Supply list</b> – <i>Cardstock:</i> Bazzill; <i>Patterned paper:</i> Crate Paper, American Crafts,
Kesi' Art, Echo Park; <i>Stickers:</i> Studio Calico, Jenni Bowlin, Crate Paper; <i>Twine:</i>
Stampin' Up!; <i>Floss:</i> DMC; <i>Punches:</i> EK Success; <i>Gems:</i> Queen & Co.; <i>Other:</i> Button,
twine, machine thread, pen<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1</b>-
I used photos I had on hand rather than printing them specially sized, so I had to
adjust the layout of the photos a bit, especially on the right side.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2</b>-
I moved the journaling so that the letter stickers would be more visible.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #3</b>- Rather than hand stitching around an element on the bottom, I hand
stitched a star near the title to draw attention to it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/MapleGroveDaysParadedetails1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/MapleGroveDaysParadedetails1.jpg" /></a></div>

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>"Table For Six"</b> <i>by Janette Kincaid </i></span><br />
<b>Supplies</b> - <i>Cardstock: </i>Bazzill; <i>Patterned paper: </i>BoBunny; <i>Corrugated Alpha:</i> Jillibean Soup; <i>Letter Stickers:</i> Making Memories, Cosmo Cricket; <i>Corrugated arrow:</i> Prima; <i>Red Hemp String:</i> Martha Stewart; <i>Floss:</i> DMC; <i>Journal Pen:</i> Zig; <i>Ink:</i> Color Box; <i>Paint:</i> Craft Smart; <i>Punches:</i> Marvy, Stampin’ Up; <i>Adhesive:</i> Glue Arts, Helmar; <i>Unknown:</i> buttons, brads, mesh, foamcore, sanding block<br />
<br />
Part of me wonders if I should have used a coloured cardstock rather than the white for the background of this layout but when I tried a handful of coordinates, it didn’t feel as ‘right’ as the white. I light how light and airy the layout feels.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1</b> - I changed up the sizes and orientation of the photos on the right side page and used a total of four rather than the six the sketch called for.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2</b> – I used a torn notebook edge punch on the thin horizontal strips of paper, adding a mirrored strip on the bottom.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #3</b> – I used the same patterned paper for the background on both pages.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #4</b> – Rather than taking the time to stitch on my layout, I used a thicker hemp string to add a splash of colour.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/Tabledetail550x396.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/Tabledetail550x396.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>Variation #5</b> – I added more circles and less stars to the bottom of the layout, the varied size of circles adds interest and the buttons, brads and pop dotted paper adds depth.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #6</b> – I flipped the location of the title and the journaling.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/Tabletitle367x550.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/Tabletitle367x550.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>Variation #7</b> – I added the corrugated arrow for additional detail and interest.<br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>"In Your Face Chewy"</b> <i>by Allison Davis</i></span><br />
<b>Supplies</b> - <i>Cardstock:</i> Bazzill; <i>Patterned paper: </i>October Afternoon; <i>Stickers, die cuts, and flashcard:</i> October Afternoon; <i>Letter stickers:</i> October Afternoon; <i>Corrugated alphabet:</i> Jillibean Soup; <i>Heart punch:</i> Martha Stewart<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1</b> - The photos I really wanted to use with this sketch didn't allow much room for cropping for the photos on the right page. I didn't want to miss out on using my favorite pictures so I included an extra photo on the left page.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2</b> - On the right page I used another 4 x 6" photo in place of two of the 3 x 4" photos.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #3</b> - I kept two of the 2 x 2" photos the same size but had to opt for a larger 2-1/2 x 2-1/2" photo for one of them. It just wasn't possible to crop it down any smaller.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #4</b> - I didn't use stars along the bottom. In fact I didn't include anything along the bottom other than a scallop strip. I also included an "ABC" strip along the top.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #5</b> - I used hearts, flags/banners, a flashcard and a dog sticker in place of the star embellishments on the sketch.<br />
<br />
Here's a closer look at some details:<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>"BBQ"</b> <i>by Suzanna Lee</i> </span><br />
<b>Supply List</b> - <i>Cardstock:</i> Bazzill Basics; <i>Patterned
paper:</i> Pink Paislee; <i>Tickets:</i> Jenni Bowlin, Maya Road; <i>Tags:</i> Prims, Jenni Bowlin;
<i>Die Cuts:</i> CosmoCricket (doily), Maya Road (owl); <i>Clip:</i> Basic Grey; <i>Flowers:</i> Prima,
Buzz and Bloom; <i>Brad and Chipboard:</i> My Minds Eye; <i>Bling:</i> Bella Boulevard<br />
<br />
<b>Variation 1:</b> I omitted the smaller pictures. I typically crop and edit all my
pictures so finding anything that I can cut that small is always a challenge for me.
Instead of pictures, I used embellishments in those spots.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation 2:</b> My title and journaling are flip flopped. I also opted to handstitch
around the title/journaling block.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation 3:</b> No stars along the bottom but I did use bling instead.<br />

<br />
I love this sketch! I stuck to the sketch except for a few minor
variations.
<br />
<br />
<b>Variations:</b><br />
<br />
1. I narrowed the background blocks by an inch, to create a white border
all around the layout.<br />
<br />
2. I combined the two 4x6 photos into one 4x8 on the left page.<br />
<br />
3. Instead of stars, I used grass die cuts and inserted flower brads
randomly across the bottom.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/sneakATTACKdetail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/sneakATTACKdetail.jpg" /></a></div>

Tape:</i> K&Company; <i>Brads:</i> The Paper Studio; <i>Mini Round Gems:</i>
Recollections; <i>Baker's Twine:</i> The Twinery; <i>Punch:</i> Marvy<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1</b> - I used the left-hand side of the sketch.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2</b> - I added some painted and punched circles to the background.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #3</b> - I added border strips at the top and bottom of the page.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

paper and die cuts: </i>Basic Grey;<i> Letter stickers:</i> American Crafts, Websters; <i>Wooden
Frame:</i> Kaiser Crafts; <i>Bling:</i> Recollections; <i>Banner: </i>Heidi Swapp; <i>Trim:</i> Maya Road<br />
<br />
<b>Variation 1:</b> I didn't use the smaller size pictures, again.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation 2:</b> The title and journaling are flip flopped. With the flowers on the
patterned paper, the journaling worked better above with the title below.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation 3:</b> Instead of the stars, I used the pleated Maya Road trim. I love how it
creates the "curtain" of the stage that my daughter is performing on.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/Kindy-Concert-Close.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/Kindy-Concert-Close.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>Variation 4:</b> The banner above is an addition to the sketch. Just a little element to
emphasize the fun and festivity of the occasion.<br />

<br />
<b>Variation #1:</b> I punched a border for the top of the striped strip and a
narrow red strip for between the striped strips and the blocks.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2:</b> I replaced the stars with pennants.<br />
<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>“Turn Off Your iPhone at Copper Harbor”</b> <i>by Sue Althouse </i></span><br />
<b>Supplies</b> -
<i>Cardstock:</i> Bazzill, Core'dinations; <i>Patterned Paper:</i> Echo Park (Country Drive, Dots and Stripes); <i>Alphabet:</i> American Crafts, Cosmo Cricket; <i>Inks, Mists: </i>Creative Memories Brown Chalking Ink; <i>Tools:</i> Making Memories Slice (Under the Sea design card), Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Circles, Fiskars circle punch, EK Success square punch; <i>Ribbon/Twine:</i> Doodlebug (Doodle Twine baby boy assortment)<br />
<br />
Copper Harbor is Michigan's northernmost harbor. A beautiful location, but absolutely no cell phone service, thus the title! My Slice got a workout creating the custom embellishments.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1</b> - I matted some of the photos.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2</b> - I changed the embellishments.<br />

Today is the first of our <a href="http://www.nikkisdoghouse.blogspot.com/">Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker</a> Product Challenge! <br />
<br />
In case you missed the product challenge details, Nikki Sivils provided a collection kit to each member of our Creative Team. Each had the choice between the four newest collections - Noah, Audrey, Exit Here, and Messages. Together with the May sketches we will show you how using the same products and even the same sketches can produce so many different results.<br />
<br />
They are also featuring our sketches this month on the <a href="http://www.nikkisdoghouse.blogspot.com/">Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker blog!</a> You'll definitely want to go check out how their talented team used the sketches from our two newest books! <br />
<br />
Since it is Card Week, all of the projects posted today for the product challenge are based on the May card sketch. <br />

Nikki Sivils (Noah collection); <i>cardstock:</i> American

<br />
<b>Variation #1</b>-
I added a piece of polka dot patterned paper to the cardstock for some color
and interest.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2</b>-
Instead of stitching on the rectangle, I glued down baker’s twine and added the
scalloped die cut borders.<br />
<br />
<div style="color: #999999; text-align: center;">
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •</div>

<b> Exit Here Collection</b></div>

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>"Love Lives Here"</b> <i>by Virginia Nebel</i> </span><br />
<b>Supply list </b>-<i> Cardstock:</i> Bazzill; <i>Patterned paper:</i> Nikki Sivils;
<i>Embellishments:</i> The Twinery; <i>Diecuts:</i> Die-namics, LifeStyle Crafts,
Recolleciton washi tape<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1</b> - I turned the card sketch into a 12 x 12 layout and used the
circles as my inspiration. Extending the sketch vertically and imagining three
full vertical circles, the shape of a stop-light came to mind. I played up
the stop light theme by creating a road and travelling camper pulling an
air-balloon full of hearts. Using the Nikki Sivils alphabet stickers on the
road sign, you can customize any message according to your photos.<br />
<br />
Here's a closer look at the details:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/IMG_8495.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/IMG_8495.jpg" /></a></div>

<b>Supplies</b> - <i>Cardstock:</i> American Crafts; <i>Patterned paper:</i> Doodlebug,

<br />
This is our Sydney, she's got personality BIG TIME. When it's hot
outside, she loves to play in her Water Wiggle. She's such a blast to
watch!<br />
<br />
<b>Variations: </b><br />
<br />
1. I used the sketch to embellish this two-page layout.<br />
<br />
2. I increased the circles/flowers to five, and extended them down the
entire background block. I used copic markers to colour the flowers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/WaterWorksDetail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t62/alidavis19/May%202012/WaterWorksDetail.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
3. I wanted to create movement, like the water droplets in the
photos. I stole some silver wire from my husbands fly-tying supplies
and "sandwiched" the wire between two raindrops. I attached the wires
so that the droplets created a "spray" pattern around the flowers.<br />

<i>Flower:</i> Petaloo; <i>Punches:</i> EK Success border punch; Quickutz Circle die;
Martha Stewart butterfly punch<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #1: </b> I used the basic idea of the strip and circles and cut the
vertical strip 4" enclosed by 1/4" black strips and 0.4 inch
stripe strips.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation #2:</b> My photo is 5x7 and framed with black punched strips.<br />

<b>Variation 1:</b> I extrapolated and made a layout with this weeks card sketch. Someday,
I will actually venture into the world of card making and enjoy it... Until then,
layouts reign!<br />
<br />
<b>Variation 2:</b> Rather than use patterned paper for the semi-circles above and below
the main circle, I used a large Unity stamp.<br />
<br />
<b>Variation 3: </b>The stitching just got lost on the busy backgrounds that I used so I
went with small strips of complimentary paper instead.<br />
