Two-page Week, Part 3

 •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Are you ready for more? Today we've got three more layouts, including another one-page layout.

Two-page Sketch #7

You can download and print this sketch by clicking on the two-page sketches link found under the "printable sketches" tab on the right sidebar.

"Kung Fu Jumping" by Allison Davis
Supply list - Patterned paper: BasicGrey (base) and Fancy Pants; Border sticker: Fancy Pants; Alphabet stickers: Kaisercraft (word border) and Prima (jumping); Chipboard alphabet: American Crafts; Embroidery floss: DMC; Tools: Bo Bunny flex ruler

Variation #1 - You know how everyone has their own little scrapbooking quirks? Well, one of mine is to make sure that the subjects in the picture aren't looking off the page or in the case of my layout, jumping off the page. Because of this I flipped the layout left to right. Everything is still the same it's just a mirror image of the sketch.

This is a great way to use the same sketch over and over in a themed album like maybe a baby album, wedding album, or a travel album. You can use the sketch the way it is on the first page and then flip it on the next and continue this pattern throughout the whole album. This way you don't have to stress over finding different sketches or ideas for each page. Another big plus to this is that your album not only carries the same theme but the same design as well.

Variation #2 - I really changed a lot with the photos on this one. The jumping pictures just aren't good for cropping to smaller sizes like the 3 x 3" photos on the sketch. They lose the "floating" look since the picture is cropped in closely around the subject and you can't really see that they are jumping.

Instead of two 3 x 3" photos on the right page, I used one 3 x 6" photo. In place of the 3 x 3" photo under the journaling I used a 3 x 4" photo. I also added another photo on the bottom corner of the 5 x 7".

Variation #3 - One thing I really love about the curved edge on the bottom of the background piece is that you can do so much to add to it.

My Bo Bunny flex ruler really came in handy on this layout. I used it three times: for the paper, the stitching, and the word border. It made it so easy to pencil in a line for the stitching and the word border. I never would have gotten it straight on my own!

Variation #4 - I moved the bottom embellishment to the top instead. I didn't want to cover up any of the word border and this was an easy solution.

"Christmas Eve" by Christy Arthur
Supply list - KI Memories School Days Brads; Tim Holtz Stitch Stamp, Tiny Attacher; Studio Calico Mr. Huey Mists: schoolhouse, dark calico and applejack; The Girls Paperie Tinsel and Twig: Festive Brocade and Sticker Market; Jenni Bowlin Memo Pad Red; 7Gypsies Christmas Paper Tape; Making Memories Noel Trim; October Afternoon Very Merry Word Stickers; American Crafts Precision Pen Brown; Colorbox Ink Brown; Bazzill Cardstock Kraft; Starbucks Cup Sleeve; Digital elements added to photos before printing: Polaroid Frame and Designer Digitals Ali Edwards Holiday Word Art and Handdrawn Holiday}

I wanted to create a layout specifically for our Christmas Eve traditions, including some cute pictures of our girls last year. I used the second page (right side) of the sketch for my layout. I already had my photos printed (with digital elements added before printing) and wanted to include several, which is why I chose to use two smaller photos instead of the 5x7 photo.

I added an additional background paper on top of the cardstock that was not in the original sketch because it just seemed to add an additional "Christmas" layer to the layout. I used some pom pom ribbon layered on top of a strip of patterned paper and some paper tape to accent the bottom of the page where the wave is at the bottom of the sketch. I flipped the places of the journaling block and the 3x3 photo and then tucked the journaling behind a Starbucks cup sleeve to "hide" the journaling and add a special little detail.

I love the "stories are gifts..share" part of the cup sleeve. I added "Christmas Eve" stickers on top of the cup sleeve to add a little detail and continue the "story" of the page.

I used a stitch pattern stamp for my stitching detail down the side of the layout and finished up with a little date sticker in the bottom right corner of the page.

These are great layouts again. Allison your Drew is just so cute and funny. These were great pictures you got of him in the action. Love the layout as always.

The second layout love love traditions and the starbucks extra touch. I put one of those in my December Daily album, love the words on it. Great job on the layout.

The third one is so cute. Love that it's about learning to walk and the title is perfect.

Great job ladies. Congratulations to the winner also. Enjoy your prize.

All beautiful layouts. The Christmas Eve layout reminds me of the layouts I've been working on lately, almost 30 years of our Christmas photos. It's been fun.
