Variations:

1. Instead of using the three squares found in the sketch, I opted to cut cameras out of the pattern paper and used them in their place. To accentuate the placement of the 3 embellishments, I added three circles and then layered another three circles on top of them.

2. I completed the page by adding some detail to the left hand side, including an embellishment cluster in the bottom left.

This page was a hard one to do, I am just going to admit it. Not because of the sketch, but because of the picture. I had an urge to scrap an older photo and when I went looking, this one was it. If you notice, these are not the dogs I usually scrap, because it’s hard for me to. The black/white one is Toby (beagle/basset/possibly corgi mix) and the red/white one is Fannie (Pembroke corgi). This was taken the week we found out that Toby was not doing so well and we made the decision to help him cross the bridge. So the page is a little melancholy, but was just something that it was time to do. This is the first page I have scrapped of Toby and I plan on doing more.

I kept the sketch basically the same, but as you can see I added more. For some reason all that “negative” space I think I need to fill with stuff! Plus, it’s just the way my page flowed and ended up being.

• Variation 1 - Doilies instead of the squares and tucked them underneath the picture.

• Variation 2 - Journaling in the upper left corner on a tag.

• Variation 3 - Because of the journaling, I moved the title down to the right hand corner.

 • Variation 4 - Added the smaller background square to ground my layout on.

• Variation 5 - Added the border at the bottom under everything.

Design notes:


• I used a border punch on the bottom of my photo for an added touch. First time I have tried it and think I will do it again!

• I used my Cricut Expression, Gypsy and the Elegant Edges cartridge for my doilies. If you want details on the cuts and sizes, I will have them on my blog (http://paperscissorsandglue.blogspot.com/) sometime this week.

• A tip I learned from teammate, Tammy Tutterow, DO NOT be afraid to layer those chipboard pieces! You can come up with some fun embellishments that will look great on your project!

Instead of the 7x5 photo, I used two smaller photos and added paper behind it for background square. I embellished it with ribbon and a label sticker.

 I used a card for my title and layered it on top of another journaling card. Then I added a hidden journal card with pull tab behind the title.

For the squares, I started by cutting a circle out of the cardstock and layered paper behind it. Then I used a border stamp to dress up cardstock and punched two larger circles to reveal the circles below. I dressed up a few circles up with hand stitching. I added a strip of paper in the middle of the square, opposite orientation of the sketch, and added a few decorative butterflies.

For the center square, I chose to add a simple chipboard square in the corner, instead of a larger square like the sketch. I misted the square to match the layout.

I added a few accents and a date to the bottom corner, which is different from the sketch.
