Two-page Week, Part 5

Two-page Sketch #24

You can download and print this sketch by clicking on the two-page sketches link found under the "printable sketches" tab on the right sidebar.

“A Whale of a Tale” by Andrea Friebus
Supply list - Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned paper: Cherry Arte; Alphabets: Making Memories; Die cut borders: K & Company; Gems: Prima Marketing; Embroidery floss: DMC; Ink: Clearsnap

Variation #1 - I only used the left side of this two-page layout.

Variation #2 - I made the curvy strip of paper into a whale and instead of three hanging embellishments, I made a water spout on the whale’s head.

Variation #3 - Instead of a strip of paper under the curve, I used a die cut banner.

Variation #4 - I had four photos I wanted to use and they’re taller than the photos in the sketch so I extended the length of the white photo mat they are on.

Variation #5 - I moved the title to below the whale instead of on top because I thought it looked better on the white paper. That created an open space on the left so I moved the journaling there.

Variation #6 - I added three buttons to the left side of the page and embellished the bottom scalloped border with gems.

"Can't Buy Me Love" by Ashley Horton
Supplies - Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper and Stickers: Echo Park; Alphabets: American Crafts, Cosmo Cricket; Brads: Bazzill; Ink: Memento; Baker's Twine: The Twinery; Punches: Anna Griffin, Martha Stewart; Embroidery Floss: Janlynn; Other: Notebook Paper, Bubble Wrap

Variation #1 - I only had two 4x6 photos I wanted to use for this page, so I only needed the left-hand side of the sketch.

Variation #2 - My photos were Portrait orientation and I flipped the sketch to accomodate the photos.

Variation #3 - Since I flipped the sketch, I "hung" the ornament embellishments I created from the top of the page, instead of the side of the page.

Variation #4 - I moved the title down a little on the page and overlapped it onto my layered, border strips.

Variation #5 - I decided to use a journaling block, cut from one of the Echo Park papers, rather than using journaling strips on this page.

"So Happy Together" by Christy Arthur
Supply List - Patterned Paper: Crate Paper (Random: Graphic), October Afternoon (Farmhouse: Guest Room, Sunday Dinner), Pink Paislee (Snowball Fight); Embellishments: October Afternoon (Farmhouse: Label and Word Stickers), Crate Paper (Farmhouse); Alpha, Phrase Stickers, Random: Phrase and Border Stickers), Lily Bee Design (Memorandum: Index Journal Cards); Tools: Martha Stewart (punch), Tim Holtz (Tiny Attacher)

Variation #1: I used the left side of the two page sketch to make my one page layout.

Variation #2: I moved my photos to the left side of the layout instead of at the bottom and put them in a vertical line instead of horizontal line.

Variation #3: I eliminated the snowflakes on the layout and moved the title to the top left corner instead of in the center of the layout.

Variation #4: I layered three colors of paper to make the wavy pattern on the layout. Then I added some hand-stitching along the middle wavy strip.

"Mister Big Foot" by Megan Bickers
Supplies Used - Cardstock: Georgia Pacific (White); Patterned Paper: Crate Paper (Toy Box: Imagine), Making Memories (Just Chillin' Boy: Patchwork), Glitz Designs (Hey Dude), Me and My Big Ideas (Urban Youth); Inks: Ranger Distress Inkpads (Gathered Twig, Antique Linen), Tsukineko (Staz-On: Black), Colorbox (Fluid Chalk Ink: Charcoal); Stamps: Doodlebug (Frame); Stickers: American Crafts (Thickers: Hardcover Chipboard), Basic Grey (Oliver: Micro Mono Stickers); Tools: We R Memory Keepers (Corner Chomper: Ticket Stub), Ranger (Foam Blending Tool); Embellishments: Queen & Co (Black Brads); Markers: EK Success (Zig Black Writer); Other: Tags from shoes.

Variation #1: Instead of using the sketch as-is, I used the first page of the sketch and rotated it 90 degrees counter clockwise. Once I turned the sketch, it opened up lots of creative possibilities!

Variation #2: The swirled border under the sketch's title inspired me to use a tracing of my son's footprint. The curves sort of mimicked the curves in the sketch. I added my title with stickers directly onto the footprint, but tried to follow the curve of his foot to mimic the sketch as closely as possible.

Variation #3: For my photos, I used two 4x6 photos just like the sketch, but used horizontal ones instead of vertical ones. I also added some smaller photos for accents on the page. I stamped a frame around part of an extra photo with black Staz-On ink, then cut it out to mimic the curvy tab drawn on the sketch just underneath the photos.

Variation #4: In place of the snowflakes and stitching near the title, I used some more of the stamped frames with pattern paper layered on the inside of the frame. I added two of the tags that came with his shoes and backed them with some leftovers from the photos of the orange box the shoes came in.

Variation #5: My journaling was added as strips on top of my footprint shape. I also added some other small details on the other frame shapes.
