One-Page Week, Part 4

It may be One-page Week but today it's two-page day! Below you'll see how Noey and I turned this one-page sketch into a two-page layout.

One-page Sketch #5

You can download and print this sketch by clicking on the one-page sketches link found under the "printable sketches" tab on the right sidebar.

"Soar" by Noey Hunt
Products used - Patterned paper: Making Memories (plaid), Bazzill Dottes Swiss (blue); Tools: Cricut Create a Critter (clouds), Lyrical Letters (title)

Variation 1: Stretching the sketch. I extended this sketch into two pages to make room for my flight certificate. I just mirror imaged the accent papers and balanced out the layout with a few extra clouds on the far left side.

Variation 2: Altering the title block. I added the camera journaling block which had all the space I needed for journaling. So I needed to fill up the the title/journaling area from the sketch with just the title.

I cut out three of the same title in the colors from the clouds and layered them for an airy effect. The white "Soar" and clouds are glittery which allow them to stand off the flat white background a little.

Variation 3: Moving everything down on the page. The background patterned paper (kraft with clouds) was custom designed for this layout. I used the scraps from cutting out the cloud embellishments as a stencil with a versa mark pen to incorporate the cloud theme throughout the layout. Once the clouds were in, it became clear that the layout would be top heavy if I centered the accent papers vertically on the page. So I moved them down to anchor the layout.

"Slow Swinging" by Allison Davis
Supplies - Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned paper: Cosmo Cricket, October Afternoon, and Echo Park; Alphabets: Dream Street and American Crafts; Chipboard bird: October Afternoon; Stickers: Doodlebug; Memory Thread: DMC

Variation #1 - I used four vertical photos to extend the sketch into a two-page layout and adjusted the sizes of the patterned papers to fit the longer measurements.

Variation #2 - Along the top of the layout I added a strip of wood grain paper and turned it into a tree branch. I used hand cut leaves with stitching and little twists of brown Memory Thread to accent the branch.

Memory Thread tip: To get the same little cork screws I used on my layout, use a needle or I used my paper piercer and wrap the Memory Thread around it. After you have the amount that you want twisted, slip it off the end. Super easy and it can be used to accent so many things!

The story of my layout is obviously about swinging so I added a swing hanging from the end of the tree branch that also acts as the embellishment in place of the flower on the sketch. I made the swing out of hand stitching and an "O" from a plastic set of letters I had.

The pictures of my son in the swing are actually on a swing set but I didn't even know where to begin to construct one on a layout and thought a tree branch would be a great substitute. Plus it fit in better with the design of this sketch.

Variation #3 - I moved my title above the tree branch to allow more room for my journaling. Since the sketch is extended into a two-page layout I had lots of room along the top of the layout.

The two page sketch is just as good as the one page sketch. Great job ladies, I really liked the themes and the colors for both.

Now why didn't I think about doing a 2 pager out of this? They look awesome!! And it's interesting how you both did a very similar thing. Love it girls!

wow, both are awesome but that tree branch is amazing Allison! I do want to know how you sew on such tiny embellishment like the leaves without tearing the paper.

Noey - I like the addition of the flight certificate on the page. That looks so fun! Allison - That tree branch with swing is so great. I love all the colors and papers on that one and the little bird and frog are cute additions. The stitching for the swing chains is a great idea. :)

Love this day of one page sketch week. Even though I do 2 page LO's I will do a 1 page every once in awhile. Love them both. That tree brach is adorable!
