One-Page Sketch #9

You can download and print this sketch by clicking on the one-page sketches link found under the "printable sketches" tab on the right sidebar.

"A Brand New Smile" by Angela Ploegman
Supply List - Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper: American Crafts; Dimensional Sticker: American Crafts; Alphabet Letters: American Crafts (brown SMILE), Sassafrass Lass (turquoise "a brand new"); Baker's Twine: Divine Twine; Dies: Xyron Creatopia Stars by Spellbinders (medium and small); Die Cut Machine: Xyron Creatopia; Punch: Emagination; Journalling Pen: American Crafts

Normally I will change up the one page sketches a lot! But in this case the sketch just clicked the way it was. It definitely helped that I had the perfect pictures already printed and on my desk!

The only real variation from the sketch was that instead of stitching (which I can only do in a straight line and Allison was nice enough to have a single straight line on the sketch!) I used a thin strip of brown card stock. It served the same purpose as the stitching in the sketch did, it helped ground the layout, but I needed to tie a bit more brown into the bottom of the page and the position of the stitching in the sketch was perfect!

I replaced the small tag on the top left embellishment cluster with some baker's twine wound around the top and bottom embellishments, as it served as a subtle reminder that even though my dad had always pulled my teeth out (we begged him to!), I just couldn't do it for my son's loose tooth. I also rounded the corners of the layout, to add some more softness to the page and to compliment the wave cut at the page bottom.

I really love love the colors and the design on this layout. The photos are perfect and congrats on that first tooth coming out. Always fun with the first one. I like the added brown border strip and around the star really makes it pop and blends nicely with the orange/teal you have. Awesome job!!

I loved this sketch and the inspiration so much that I just had to use it for a layout.

Here is my layout if you'd like to check it out:
