One-page Sketch #11

You can download and print this sketch by clicking on the one-page sketches link found under the "printable sketches" tab on the right sidebar.

"Grandma Time" by Jennifer Larson
Supplies - Cardstock: Stampin' Up!; Patterned paper: The Girls' Paperie, Authentique, Pebbles, Doodlebug, Cosmo Cricket; Letter stickers: Basic Grey, Bella Blvd.; Corrugated Frames: Jillibean Soup; Paper Frill: Doodlebug; Floss: DMC; Stickers: October Afternoon, 7gypsies; Die Cut: Authentique; Chipboard flowers: GCD Studios; Flags: The Girls' Paperie; Mist: Studio Calico; Gems: Doodlebug; Paint: Claudine Hellmuth; Pen: Zig; Font: Times New Roman; Twine: The Twinery; Grid Stamp: Unity Stamps; Other: Brads, machine stitching

1. I followed the sketch, but I squished the paper together and used two trimmed 4x6 photos, which is what I had printed.

2. To make the background more interesting, I laid the chipboard flowers down as a mask, then I stamped in pink around the edge.

3. This page is for my mother, so I went heavy with flowers and not stars, even though my boys are on it. The page is really about her, which dictated my product choices.

"Pottery Show" by Katrina Hunt
Supplies - Patterned Paper: American Crafts (Peachy Keen Collection); Chipboard Letters: American Crafts (Thickers); Sticker Letters: My Mind’s Eye (Sophie); Stamp: Unity Stamp Co.; Ink: Jenni Bowlin (Lemon Drop - on the letters for show); Markers: Faber Castell Big Brush Markers (for the stamp)
I am one that usually tries to go out of my way to change the sketch to add more, move stuff around, etc. This time I was very short on time, so I stuck with it pretty much! I just made a few changes, but nothing that took a lot of time.

• Variation 1 - Grounding paper for the rectangles, I just have a thing about it. I tried it without that grey paper and I just didn’t like the way it looked or felt.

• Variation 2 - Title in a different place, fit where my pictures were placed.

• Variation 3 - Only rounded opposite corners on two of the rectangles and carried that over into the title for the paper that “show” was placed on.

"Adventure Ahead" by Christy Arthur
Products - My Mind's Eye: hazel lovely label stickers; October Afternoon: Schoolhouse flash cards; Making Memories: Ava Ric Rac Ledger; Crate Paper: Emma's Shoppe Accent Cuts; American Crafts: Dear Lizzy Fabric Paper; Pink Paislee: Hometown Summer Punchouts; Sassafras: Paper Whimsies Via Air Mail, Starters Prologue Trim; Basic Grey: Wander Die Cut Pieces; Studio Calico: Die Cuts State Fair, Mister Huey lemonade, fabrips documentary

I used two vertical background blocks of patterned paper instead of the three shown in the sketch (since I only had two photos for this layout).

I flipped the location of the title to the left side instead of the right.

I used circles instead of stars and layered a few embellishments to complete the layout.

"Tell Me a Story" by Amy Roller
Supplies - Cardstock: Close To My Heart; Die cut title: Cricut; Journaling area/Flowers/swirl embellishments: Making Memories

I decided to flip the title area with the smallest photos on this sketch and left off the two left background papers. This worked well because I wanted the title area to be larger but still wanted the pictures to be the center of attention.

I left the swirl and used flowers sprinkled throughout instead of stars. I added some photo corners to the background paper to frame it and also added a frame around the smallest picture.

I used "Tell me a Story..." as the title because Caden would always say, "Let me tell you a story!" Then he would sit and flip pages telling Mason all about what was happening in the pictures. Mason loved story time and often flipped through his own book while he sat and listened to Caden.

"Sundae Sunday" by Suzanna Lee
Supplies - Cardstock: Bazzill, Coredinations; Patterned paper: American Crafts, Crate Paper, My Minds Eye, Pink Paislee; Sticker Border: K&Co.; Paint: Ranger; Button: Moda; Sticker: American Crafts; Sticker Letters: Pink Paislee, American Crafts; Flowers: Sassafras Lass; Journal Spot: Anna Griffin

My interpretation of this week's sketch is very loose. I promise the sketch was the inspiration! The three blobs of ice cream are the three rectangles of patterned paper and the three pictures. Do you see it?

Because it was so loosely based, the title, embellishments and journaling (shock! it's done!) had to go else where. The patterned papers sandwiching the sundae are vibrant enough that not much more was needed.
