Two-Page Week, Part 1

Two-Page Sketch #17

You can download and print this sketch by clicking on the two-page sketches link found under the "printable sketches" tab on the right sidebar.

"Our Little Star" by Melissa Bell
Supply List - Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye; Ink: ColorBox Chalk Ink (Dark Brown); Pop Dots: EK Success; Letters: BoBunny; Star Brads: Recollections; Floss: DMC; Die Cut Machine: Slice; Slice Design Card: Noteworthy (STAR)

I love this sketch! When I came upon this patterned paper I knew it would work so well with this sketch. I pretty much followed the sketch with a few variations.

Variation #1 - I hand stitched a border around the star to add some definition.

Variation #2 - Because I stitched around the star I felt that it would be too much to stitch across the smaller stars. The smaller stars by themselves seemed to just float on the page so I added small star brads to help ground them.

Variation #3 - I didn't edit my photos to allow the smaller stars to go over the photo so I omitted those stars.

"4th of July" by Shari Thurman
Supply List - Patterned Paper and Stickers: Adornit; Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink; Pen: Zig; Adhesive: ATG by Skotch; 3D adhesive: Thermoweb; Sewing Machine: New Home; Thread: DMC Nylon Upholstery Thread; Tools: Cricut and Design Studio, We R Memory Keepers Paper Piercer; Other: Kraft Cardstock, Buttons and Jute

This sketch was so much fun to work with, that I hardly changed a thing.

• I used a sticker for my title.

• I stitched around my large star.

• I used journal strips, instead of writing my journaling on the star.

• I layered a few of the stars on kraft paper for added interest. Using a paper piercer, I poked two holes in each star and threaded jute through them. I then attached them with 3D adhesive.

I also added buttons to two of the stars.

"Happy in Love" by Lynette Jacobs
Supplies used - Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper: BasicGrey Cappella; Letters: Pink Paislee weathered wood and American Craft Dear Lizzy Coffee Bliss; Heart chipboard: Unknown; Trims and
bling: Prima Say it in Crystals borders; Tools: Martha Steward butterfly punches

I loved this page. I kept with the sizes of the photographs and with the placement thereof. I substituted the large star with a chipboard heart framing heart shaped printed paper.

I did my journaling inside the heart.

The small stars were substituted with butterflies.

I framed the two rows of photos with the Prima trim and bling borders.

"Warm Memories of Fall" by Carolyn Wolff
Supply List - Cardstock: Bazzill and Worldwin; Patterned Papers: Imaginisce, BasicGrey; Rub-ons, Chipboard, Canvas Accents: Imaginisce; Chipboard Letters: American Crafts; Alpha Stickers: October Afternoon; Decorative Pins: Jillibean Soup; Ribbon: Maya Road; Adhesive: 3L, Fabric Tac, EK Success; Mist: Tattered Angels; Apple Basket and Tree Die-cut: Cricut; Brads: unknown; Floss: DMC; Punches: EK Success; Stamp (border): unknown; Sanding tools: BasicGrey

I love, love, love this sketch! The large element on the second page and the curved border along the bottom had my head spinning with ideas.

I didn’t make many changes as far as the placement of anything. My variations will more or less be a little tutorial of how I made the elements on my layout.

Variation #1 -  For my title I used a combination of coloured rub-ons and chipboard letters. I love to combine things because it makes the title more interesting.

Variation #2 - For the embellishment on page one, I layered two scalloped circles and added a chipboard pumpkin.

I used two decorative pins and some twine to tie a bow. I also used a little foam adhesive for dimension.

Variation #3 - For the scalloped border on page one, I punched out circles and tucked them under the striped strip. I added some brads to each scallop for interest.

Variation #4 - For the curved border I decided to use ribbon.

I used a little Fabric Tac and scrunched the ribbon as I adhered it to the page. I did draw the border on my page with pencil so I had a guide.

Variation #5 - I used my Cricut to cut out the tree trunk (it is from Stretch Your Imagination). I used punched circles in different sizes to create the ‘leaves’. I also cut out some leaves from the paper I was using and added a leaf to each cluster. I used foam adhesive to add dimension.

Variation #6 - I used some olive green Glimmer Mist and sprayed my background to add a bit of colour. I also used a border stamp and made lines of dashes in the corners of my pages.
