Two-Page Week, Part 3

Two-Page Sketch #17

You can download and print this sketch by clicking on the two-page sketches link found under the "printable sketches" tab on the right sidebar.

"She Scored a Hat Trick" by Jill Sarginson
Supplies Used - Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; Patterned Paper: Pink Paislee (Hometown collection); Floss: Anchor; Letters: American Crafts, The Girls' Paperie; Tools: Fiskars Scallop Sentiment border punch, Creative Memories star punch; Ink: Vibrance; Soccer Balls: Google images; Adhesive: pop dots; Journaling: Computer generated (Tahoma font); Star embellishments: My Mind's Eye

Most of my layouts are matted so because of this, I often change my photo sizes. I opted to go 4 x 5.5 for the main photo, 4 x 4 for the photo under the main photo, 3 x 3 for the other photo on the left hand page and 2 x 2 for the 10 photos on the right hand page. Other than change the photo sizes, I stuck to the sketch.

For this layout, I used soccer balls instead of stars. The soccer balls were found on google images - for the large ball, I copied and pasted it into my image editing program (PSE), blew it up, printed and cut it out and then used it as a template. The small soccer balls were re-sized, printed, cut out, inked and then pop-dotted.

"Galena, KS"  by Tammy Volland
Supplies - Digital Kit by: Sherri Tierney / Route 66; Software used: Adobe Photoshop CS3

I added drop shadows behind all the objects. I used the inked and distress actions for photoshop from www.atomiccupcake.com.

For those of you that know me, you know I am a HUGE fan of Route 66. With the weather "supposed" to be cooler, we loaded up the pups and headed out on Route 66 towards Tulsa, OK. Along the route is Galena, KS, the home of the real "Mator" in the Cars movie. So of course you know I have to scrap about it! Oh and by the way, I was 101 degrees at one point in the day!

Variation 1 - For the sewed star banner I used buttons and flairs.

Variation 2 - Instead of the huge journaling star I use a circle filled with road signs, and place a journaling tag behind it. I also added journaling to the bottom part of the first page. Tells of the history behind the gas station and Mator.

Variation 3 - I didn't add a scalloped edge, instead I added a row of stitching.

"4th of July Freedom Ride" by Allison Davis
Supplies - Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned paper: BoBunny; Alphabets: BoBunny (4th of July, freedom) and American Crafts (Ride); Stickers: BoBunny; Chipboard stars: BoBunny; Star punch and scallop border punch: Fiskars; Pearls: unknown; Jewels: KaiserCraft

Variation #1 - I had so many pictures of Jackson enjoying his "4th of July Freedom Ride" that I had to find a way to include more of them. Instead of using three 4 x 4 photos on the left page, I used six 3 x 4 photos.

Variation #2 - Since I added two more inches of photos on the left page I decided to use a die-cut circle paper in place of the large star on the sketch. I was cutting off so much of the large star that it kind of lost it's star look. Plus, the die-cut paper was easy!

Variation #3 - I still wanted to add some sort of large star to the right page so I settled for a medium one cut from patterned paper.

Variation #4 - On the right page, the wavy line of stars stand out against the light background but on the left they kind of got lost on the die-cut paper. To help them stand out a little, I added red pearls to the center of the red stars.

Variation #5 - The sketch shows several different sizes of stars across that wavy line but I simplified and used the same size of star for all of them. I had a punch that was the perfect size and couldn't pass on making that part a little easier.

Variation #6 - It's a small variation but, I added a 1/4" strip of red patterned paper to the left page, next to the striped strip. I wanted to get a little more red in that area and this was a super easy solution.

WOW ladies, these are outstanding layouts today. Jill I love love the soccer balls, we are a huge soccer family. I'm surprised everyday with what the swirl on the l/o will be everyday. Way to go on them.

Allison, your sweet Jackson is looking so big and more like Drew everytime I see him. I'm glad you did a l/o of a recent event. Great stars.

Congrats to the winner of the sketchbook, you will love it.

I always enjoy and really like the LOs that are done here from your sketches, but I have to say that they are just outstanding this week. Lines of butterflies, buttons, soccerballs, stars, leaves, circles w/ different embellishments. . . have I missed any! So much inspiration!!
