Two-page Sketch #23
You can download and print this sketch by clicking on the two-page sketches link found under the "printable sketches" tab on the right sidebar.
"Apple Memories" by Suzanna Lee
Supplies used - patterned paper: Crate Paper, Jillibean Soup; letters: Jillibean Soup; ink: Tim Holtz, Clearsnap; twine: The Twinery; button: Stampin Up; brads: Making Memories; stickers: Crate Paper, Jillibean Soup; die cuts: Crate Paper; punch: EK Sucess; rub on: Studio Calico
Variation #1 - It's not a double page spread. Nor is my layout based on either the right or the left hand side of the sketch but rather, from the center of the sketch.
Variation #2 - Instead of two 4x6 pictures in the vertical element on the left, I just used a strip of patterned paper.
Variation #3 - I still have the three rows with a variety of squares but the last row I kept the picture 4x6. I replaced two of the pictures with patterned paper with embellishments.
Variation #4 - Because I selectively chose the part of the sketch I was using, I had to make room for the title. The blue Jillibean letters stood in nice contrast to the red down at the bottom of the page.

"Band Members Only" by Megan Bickers
Supplies Used - Cardstock: EK Success (Black), Georgia Pacific (White); Patterned Paper: Pink Paislee (Old School: Members Only, Curriculum, Back 2 School), Around the Block (Instrumental); Inks: Ranger Distress Inkpads (Gathered Twig, Chipped Sapphire), Tsukineko (Versamark); Stamps: Kaisercraft (Music); Stickers: Pink Paislee (Old School: Elements Stickers), Making Memories (Boho Chic: Navy Velvet Alphas), 7 Gypsies (Mini Label Sticker: Date); Tools: WeR Memory Keepers (Corner Chomper), Ranger (Foam Blending Tool), Close To My Heart (Heat Embossing Gun); Embellishments: Close To My Heart Embossing Powder (Gold), Silhouette (Saxophone die cut), Autumn Leaves (Blue Buttons); Markers: EK Success (Zig Black Writer); Other: Ranger (Glossy Accents), Sandpaper, Cream Crochet Thread
Variation #1: Instead of using the Christmas trees as shown in the sketch, I used a large die cut pattern paper for my background and added a die cut saxophone shape. The saxophone was heat embossed with gold powder to give it a shiny appearance.
Variation #2: I carried the squares theme from the right hand page over to the left hand page to help pull the layout pages together more. I did this by adding a strip of paper cut from a larger sheet (featuring music themed squares). This horizontal "border" also took the place of the vertical border on the left hand page of the sketch.
Variation #3: For my photos, I used cropped 4x6 photos and combined some of the squares together to work for my photos. I used two 3x3 squares, two 3x6 rectangles, one 4x4.75 focal photo, and one 2x4 accent photo.
Variation #4: I added the title to the top of the layout and included the journaling just below that. I did not write my journaling on strips of paper, but instead wrote the words directly on my layout base.
Variation #5: I added banner stickers in place of the labels that were shown on three areas of the layout sketch. For my page, I added some buttons to the tops of the stickers for dimension and color.

These were great changes in the sketch. I like them both. Fun themes too. Way to go on making it your own.
Love the way the DT has taken this week's sketch and gone in so many different directions. I'm always fascinated with the way they can look at the sketch and see so many possibilities.
