So far this week we've shown you several layouts based off the two-page sketch and today we've got three more. Christmas, winter, and roller coasters on layouts that prove you can adapt this sketch to any theme.
Two-page Sketch #7
You can download and print this sketch by clicking on the two-page sketches link found under the "printable sketches" tab on the right sidebar.
"Santa Delivers" by Jill Sarginson
Supply List: Pattern Paper: October Afternoon (Very Merry) and My Mind's Eye; Cardstock: Bazzill Basics and Bo Bunny Dotted Swiss; Punch: Fiskars Scallop; Alphabets: Pink Paislee (Holly Doodle); Journaling: Computer generated (font: DJB Tweenybopper)
Variation 1:
I opted to place the bottom of the 5x7 photo flush with the rest of the photos. Because I still kept this photo size 5x7, this resulted in everything shifting up higher on the page which made the entire focal point of the layout larger.
Variation 2:
Because I had more paper at the top, I opted to add a little detail along the top of the pattern paper. Using the same striped pattern paper as the horizontal strip below, I border punched it and adhered it to the top.
Other notes:
My embellishments were made into circles with various elements from the pattern paper that were cut, inked, and pop dotted onto the layout.
My background piece of pattern paper (the brown polka dot) is one sheet of 12x12 paper. I wanted to use this line of paper for this sketch but only had one sheet of each piece. I was able to only use one piece of paper for the background by cutting it into sections. The two sections at the bottom (with the round edges) were cut first and placed under the horizontal striped pattern paper to hide the fact that it's not one continuous piece. I then cut out a square for the top part of the left hand page. I needed two more areas on the right hand page: the small area just above the journaling box (seam is hidden under the photos) and the vertical strip on the far right (seam is hidden by the circle embellishment).

"Up to Snow Good" by Carolyn Wolff
Supply List - Paper, Chipboard & Stickers: Bo Bunny ; Letter Stickers: Webster’s Pages; Cardstock: Core-dinations; Jewels: Heidi Swapp ; Stitching Tools & Floss: We R Memory Keepers ; Other: sanding tool, Tim Holtz and border punch, Martha Stewart
After going through photos that I already had developed, I decided to stay with the winter theme that the sketch suggests.
Variation #1 – I wanted to use the photos that I had on hand and I didn’t have a 5x7 for page two. I used a 4 x 6" vertical photo and made a larger photo mat out of cardstock and used a snowflake border punch to tie in the snowflake theme. This filled in the space that a 5x7 photo would have taken up and it allowed me to use my 4x6 photo.
I didn’t have a vertical photo for page one so I filled the space in with a 3 x 6" (top), 3 x 3 ¼" (left), and 3 x 3" (right).
Variation #2 – I created journaling strips in place of the journaling box shown on the sketch. I like how the strips break up the journaling area and by adding the snowflakes and jewels it is like another embellishment on the page.
Variation #3 – I used chipboard snowflakes and foam adhesive to create dimension.
I added in the snowman and additional snowflakes with jewels to create a winter wonderland background.
Variation #4 – Instead of adding the stitching down the right side of page 2, I decided to add a stitched border around the blue cardstock on my background.
"Brave Boy" by Allison Davis
Supply list - Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned paper: Scrap Within Reach; Chipboard alphabet: Prima; Sticker alphabet: Prima; Chipboard accents: Maya Road; Metal accents: Tim Holtz; Tickets: Tim Holtz; Memory Thread: DMC; Tools: Bo Bunny flex ruler
Variation #1 - I decided to flip the background piece so that the wavy edge would be at the top and attempted to create something similar to a roller coaster. It didn't go exactly as I had planned. Well, really, I don't think I ever had a plan, it just didn't have the look I had hoped.
Even though I flipped the background piece I kept the rest of the elements on the layout in the same placement as the sketch.
Variation #2 - After getting my pictures and the papers down on the page I thought the layout looked a little on the plain side. To amp it up a little I cut the amusement park out of a patterned paper and added it on the left and right side of the background piece.
Variation #3 - For my embellishments I used chipboard and metal gears and tickets accented with Memory Thread.
Variation #4 - I changed the two 3 x 3" photos into one 3 x 6" photo. I didn't have very many photos of this event and the ones I did have weren't really ideal for cropping.
Variation #5 - Instead of using the square journaling block as suggested on the sketch, I layered two journaling tickets and added my story over both of them.

We've received several emails of projects our readers have created with the sketches that have been shown so far this month. It's always fun for us to see what others are doing with our sketches so we encourage you to keep them coming. At the end of the month, after we've gone through all four sketches, we'll showcase some of the reader's projects for each of the sketches. If you have created something based on the sketches and want to see it featured here, you can send them to me at allison@scrapbookgeneration.com along with your name, where you are from, and the supply list for your project.

Another three fabulous layouts. How are you producing so many layouts with so much detail on them?
I love all these layouts today. The first one is awesome with the snowflakes/snowmen/cool colors, everything looks great.
The second layout is so cute love all the paper and embellishments.Great job.
Allison yours is so cute, only you could pull off using a unschool related paper and make it look good. How is Drew doing in school? Did he adjust ok after the Christmas break? Thanks for another great layout/sketch day.
Wow, I love all of these! Allison, that is so awesome that you flipped the sketch and turned it in to a roller coaster.
Another great set of LOs from the sketch! I love the addition of the Amusement park paper Ali! It's so cute! Great work from everyone! TFS
Jill, your layout is beautiful. I love the circle elements that you created.
Allison, I think it was a brilliant idea to flip the sketch. I might have to scraplift this idea. I have that roller coaster paper and I went on my first roller coaster a couple of years ago. It even had a double loop.
Thanks for the inspiration girls.
Great takes Carolyn and Allison! Carolyn - love all the scattered elements! Allison, I agree with Carolyn - I like the flipped sketch - I have SO many roller coaster pictures! Thanks for the idea! :)
Great job!! Love the variation on all three layouts! Allison- the roller coaster is genius!! Love it!
Sue, thank you! Organization is the key! :)
Dawn, Drew is doing great in school. He still loves to go everyday and is learning so much. I cried the first time I heard him read. I can't believe he is reading! :)
Fabulous work girls!
The highlight of my day is coming to this site and seeing the wonderful layouts. When I grow up, I wanna scrap like y'all!! :)

More examples of one sketch and so many different themes!
Love all the layering on the snow page.
Love the layouts!!
Some uber tatlented women! Amazing what can be done with one sketch.

Love this! My six year old baby rode POWDER KEG this last summer when he had just turned 6 - he didn't make a sound but his face was white!
