One-Page Week, Part 2

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
There are so many options when it comes to changing the photos on a sketch to fit the photos you want to use. You can use more or less, bigger or smaller, or change the orientation of them and most of the time you can do this with only little adjustments to the page to fit the difference.

The six layouts today show several ways you can use different photo sizes with this sketch.

One-page Sketch #4

You can download and print this sketch by clicking on the one-page sketches link found under the "printable sketches" tab on the right sidebar.

"A Walk on a Deserted Beach" by Jill Sarginson
Supply list - Patterned Paper: Echo Park; Alphabets: Echo Park, Basic Grey; Tools: Fiskars Sunburst border punch, CM circle punch, Martha Stewart butterfly punch; Floss: DMC floss; Ink: Vibrance; Embellishments: Echo Park; Pen: Zig

Notes: I stayed pretty true to the sketch here. I substituted butterflies for the journaling spots on the left hand side and moved my journaling to the bottom of the page. I also decreased my picture sizes to 3.5 x 5 and the smaller ones are all 2.5 x 2.5.

"You're my Rain Cloud" by Amy Roller

I made the background a little bigger on this one because I needed more room to fit in the raindrops.

I added an area for hidden journaling behind the background piece.

You just pull on the top and it comes out.

I only used two 3 x 3 photos and added one little photo and embellishment/sentiment in place of one of the 3 x 3 pics.

I stamped the raindrops and then stitched above them.

"Paarden Tram" by Mireille Divjak
Supply list - Cardstock and Patterned paper: Canvas Corp (Kraft and green line:  ribbon stripe, dit, mini dots); Mini kraft tags: Maya Road; Butterfly: Petaloo; paperclip: 7Gypsies; rubons: Kaisercraft;
Alphabets: My Mind's Eye, Lush; Gold Rub: MakeMe!; Wood flourishes, Fancy Heart: Kaisercraft;
Distress ink and Distress Stain: Ranger; Pens: AC and Sakura

Story:
In Disneyland they had old fashioned vehicles - firetrucks, taxi's, policecars and busses. Amber and Noah where debating which one they wanted for a ride, until a horse and wagon came along. They fell in love right then and there and decided there was nothing more cool then a wagon pulled by a horse.
Because it was "old fashioned" I decided to change the color of the pictures to give them an "old fashioned feel" and to stay modest with the colors of the paper.

"A Walk in the Woods" by Shari Thurman
Supply list - Patterned paper: Paper Loft; Alphabets: American Crafts and Cosmo Cricket; Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink; Other: Cardstock

On this layout I stayed true to the sketch, only making a couple of minor adjustments. I used a pattern paper as my background instead of a solid color cardstock. Then I matted the background rectangle onto the navy blue paper. I used three 4 x 4" photos instead of the suggested 3 x 3".

"Just Chillin'" by Christina Hoffman
Supplies - Patterned paper: BoBunny; Alphabet: American Crafts and Doodlebug Design; Stickers and clouds: BoBunny; Embroidery thread: DMC

Variation #1 - The first change I made was to the striped strip on the bottom below the 4 x 6 photo. I wanted to create a water affect so I cut strips of blue paper and punched them with a circle punch to create the waves.

Variation #2 - I used wallet photo's instead of the suggested 3 x 3 photo's.

Variation #3 - The last change I made was to the 1/2 x 12 strips. Since I used wallets I didn't have enough photo's to run the length of the page so I opted to cut the strips to the same length of my photo's.

"You are my Sunshine" by Amy Roller
Supplies - Cardstock: Close To my Heart; Patterned papers: Bella Blvd and BoBunny; Title: American Crafts; Swirls: Colorbok; Clouds: unknown, some are cut from Bella Blvd. paper; Thread, Stamps: Close to my Heart, unknown; Markers/ink: Stampin Up!

I made my background piece a little larger because I was using a vertical photo instead of a horizontal one, so I needed a little larger area to work with. By changing the orientation of the picture, I also had to "flip" the embellishment area that went in the title area. I moved it down to help fill the space that would otherwise have been covered by the photo.

With this layout I had a lot of journaling and no other pictures so I just used the whole right side of the sketch for my journaling.

For the finishing touches, I stitched on the background piece and added some swirls to mimic wind. I also used canvas buttons that I stamped with colors to match the page.

 I also added some hand drawn lines and dots around the top to help add a defining edge because it felt like it needed something.

I decided to use a stamped embellishment in the bottom right corner instead of journaling strips since I already had so much above and left the ones on the left side off completely.
