"Just Add Sunshine" by Carolyn Wolff
Supply List - Patterned Paper: My Mind’s Eye, Basic Grey, My Little Shoebox, Cosmo Cricket; Cardstock: Bazzill, Core-dinations; Alphabet: American Crafts, Webster’s Pages; Floss: We R Memory Keepers; Embossing: Cuttlebug; Ink: Ranger Distress Ink, Vintage Photo, Memento; Stamp: Stamping Bella; Brads: Making Memories; Stickers: SRM Stickers; Die-cut: Little Yellow Bicycle; Border Punch: Fiskars; Cricut: Graphically Speaking; Sketch: Sketches for Scrapbooking, Volume 7

I want to say that I am so happy with my layout. Making the tree was a challenge, but so worth it in the end. Creating my own embellishments is very rewarding and allows me to make my layout so much more personal.

Here are the details on how I made my tree:

Step #1 – I had a template for the trunk of the tree that I found online. It was from a colouring page (sorry I don’t know the source). I traced the trunk onto a piece of brown cardstock and then cut it out. I added brown stitching just far enough so the green would cover it.

Step #2 – Using my Cricut and the Graphically Speaking cartridge, I cut out clouds in 2 different shades of green and in 3 different sizes. Then I ran them through the Cuttlebug and sanded the embossed side. I added stitching in a contrasting colour of green floss. I used foam adhesive to pop up the clouds to create depth.

Step #3 – I stamped the bird on yellow cardstock and hand cut it out. I stamped the heart wing a second time out of an orange paper and cut it out. I popped the wing up using foam adhesive.

I incorporated my tree into a layout using one of the sketches from Volume #7! I hope this inspires you to try to make your own tree!

"Tag You Are It" by Katrina Hunt
Supplies - Kit: Studio Calico (Summer Camp); Adhesive: Scotch ATG and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Ink: ColorBox Cat’s Eye

When I saw the add on sketch I immediately of course thought trees. I really had planned on doing some type of topiary tree, possibly an altered piece. Then I took this picture. Yes, they do this ALL the time in the backyard. One grabs a toy and gets the others to chase them. Part of the herding instinct that is in Corgis!

I didn’t alter the add-on sketch much, just made a tree trunk and made them in a larger size. Also, you can cut some of the flowers in half and “tuck” them into places, so that your supplies go farther!

Here's a closer look:
