One-page Sketch #10

You can download and print this sketch by clicking on the one-page sketches link found under the "printable sketches" tab on the right sidebar.

"Lazy Days of Summer" by Shari Thurman
Supply List - Patterned Paper, stickers and tiny Alphabets: Echo Park; Chipboard Alphabet: American Crafts; Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink; 3D Adhesive: Thermoweb; Other: Machine Stitching and pen

I love this sketch! You can do so many things with those 3 little squares.

On this layout I decided I was going to used a vertical 4x6 photo and use more of the white space on the sketch. I then added a smaller 3x3 photo to complete the photo and paper grouping. I placed them on the orange background and stitched a blue scalloped border along the top and bottom. This helped give the look of water and waves that I was looking for. I then used my scissors and hand cut around them.

Since my 4x6 photo filled the space on the sketch where the title was supposed to be, I moved the title above the grouping.

I kept my embellishments in the same locations, but used 3 fish matted on circles attached with 3D adhesive. I finished the layout with blue faux stitching and my journaling. "I love the days we spend at home in the summer playing in the yard, having picnics and cooling off in the kiddy pool. Summer 2008.

"Love You" by Amy Roller
Supplies - Patterned paper and hand cut flowers: 3 Bugs, Scenic Route; Cardstock: Bazill, Stampin Up!; Button: Jenny Bowlin; Title embellishment: My Mind's Eye; Letters: American Crafts;

I didn't have a larger picture but I did have 2 that I wanted to use so I altered the layout a little to make it work for me.

I kept with the blocks and used them to fill in around my photos. I kept the flowers which I hand cut from my pattern paper and then added the striped strips where needed to help connect it all. Because I used more pictures I split my title up to flow across and down the page. I used a smaller title embellishment where the title actually is on the sketch.

"School BBQ" by Jennifer Larson
Supplies - Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper: Studio Calico, The Girls' Paperie, October Afternoon; Letter stickers: American Crafts, Basic Grey; Tickets: Pink Paislee; Flowers: Pebbles; Floss: DMC; Sticker: October Afternoon; Ink: Stampin' Up!; Pin: The Girls' Paperie; Mist: Studio Calico; Font: Times New Roman; Pen: Zig; Other: Machine stitching

1. I loved the look of the patterned paper squares. They reminded me of a picnic blanket, which made me think of this barbecue! I didn't have a 5x7 photo, though, so I used the photos I had on hand, which meant the patterned paper squares had to get smaller.

2. I misted the background in some warm colors with a hint of green to reflect the warm atmosphere.

3. I don't like using literal themed products, so I looked for products left over from recent kits that suggested happiness. And I found some that seemed sort of foodish, so I used those too!

 4. When I journal on strips, I tend to outline them to add definition.

I love the paper line and layout for the first one. In the second layout the colors and photos are great. The third layout how fun to have a bbq at school. All the little goodies you added make it a fun page.
Way to go all 3 of you.

These are awesome! Each layout has something special and gives me more ideas on using this sketch.. which I already love! But now I can use it again for some more blocked layouts.
