Card Sketch #18

You can download and print this sketch by clicking on the card sketches link found under the "printable sketches" tab on the right sidebar.

"Joy" by Lynette Jacobs
Supplies used - Cardstock: Bazzill; Printed paper: Melissa Francis; Ribbons: Making Memories(Fresh Anthology); Pearl swirls: Basic Grey; Chipboard frame: Tattered Angel; Flower: Prima: Sentiment: Kaisercraft; Punch: Martha Stewart: Other: pins

Variation #1: My card and background square is slightly larger than the sketch.

Variation #2: I used ribbons instead of paper strips.

Variation #3: I applied my sentiment over the ribbon.

“Pinch Proof” by Andrea Friebus
Supply list - Cardstock: Bazzill, Bo Bunny; patterned paper: Bo Bunny, Studio Calico, We R Memory Keepers, Bella, Basic Grey, Kaiser Craft, Fancy Pants; letter stickers: Doodlebug Designs; sticker: Little Yellow Bicycle; ink: Clearsnap; embroidery floss: DMC; other: date stamp, flowers, gems, pen

Variation #1 - I created a layout instead of a card and used photos in place of the square. I also added a title and journaling strips.

Variation #2 - I only used nine strips and curled up the bottoms.

(Most of these papers did not have the same pattern on the reverse side, so I adhered a scrap of the front of the strip to the back so that when it was curled up, the pattern would be the same.)

Variation #3 - I used flowers that looked like four leaf clovers instead of butterflies and eliminated the one in the upper left.

Variation #4 - Instead of stitching on the strips, I stitched around the die cut paper.

"Catching Butterfly Kisses" by Virginia Nebel
Supply list - Patterned paper: WR Memory Keepers; Embellishments: The Twinery; Kaiser Kraft jewels; Die cutting: Silhouette Cameo, Sizzix, Fiskars

The inspiration for my card were the butterflies. I have sweet memories of exchanging 'butterfly kisses' with my daughter. I would ask her 'did you catch my butterfly kiss?'

Variation #1 -Instead of cutting strips for the card background I used a striped pattern paper.

Variation #2 - For the message element, the sketch shows 11 strips on the background, so I looped baker's twine 11 times around each of the small squares to add some texture. I tucked the butterflies and kisses (x's) through the twine to play on the 'catching' theme.
