One easy way to get a different look from a card sketch is to use a different size of card base or switching the orientation of the base. When it comes to using a different size there are so many you have to choose from and adjusting the elements on the sketch to fit should be a breeze, especially with this sketch. If you go with a bigger size you can simply add more candles or if you make a smaller size, take a few out.

"Happy Birthday" card by Christina Hoffman
Supplies - Patterned paper: BoBunny, Fancy Pants, and Scenic Route; Memory Thread: DMC; Glitter accent: Stickles
As you can see, the changes I made were very simple ones. I turned my card, rounded the corners, changed out the shape of my journaling block, I used memory thread for the wick stem and I cut out stars for my flame. Pretty simple changes that just give it a little different look from the sketch.

"Celebrate" card by Shari Thurman
Supply List - Pattern Paper and sticker stackers: Imaginisce; Cardstock: Stampin' Up; 3D foam adhesive: Thermo-Web; Other: ribbon and machine stitching
I just love card sketch week. I'm not really a card maker. I'm a scrapbooker, pushing myself out of my comfort zone. It's making me feel kind of liberated to do something out of the ordinary.
On this card, I switched out the candles for balloons. I used kraft paper as a background. With a pencil, I lightly drew my strings on the card. I used my sewing machine and stitched the strings. I probably should have practiced a bit beforehand, but I just winged it. Some of those loop-de-loops look like I was intoxicated at the time. I added 3D foam adhesive to some of the balloons to make them stand out. Then I added felt ribbon and topped it with a sentiment.

"Happy Birthday" card by Noey Hunt
Products used - Patterned Papers: DCWV; Letterpress embellishment: Paper Source; Tools: Sew Easy
Variation 1: I designed the card around the letterpress "Happy Birthday" embellishment. It is larger than the sketch called for, so I ended up adding a few candles and making them all taller. With these adjustments, the card worked better being square.
Variation 2: I decided to swap out the striped horizontal strip for some stitching. Since I used such busy patterns on the candles, any more pattern would have been too much. I used this opportunity to try out a new stitch with the Sew Easy tool and add some texture to the card.
